Monthly congressional staff briefing series beginning on the last Friday in January. First topics will likely focus on the Americans for American Energy Act sponsored by Congressman Bishop, Mineral Security, The West's Domestic Oil Shale, Carbon Capture and Sequestration, Company Innovations and Practices that Benefit the Environment and More!

Anticipated for late spring, perhaps around cherry blossom time! This is an opportunity to spend some time welcoming and educating our newly elected members of Congress and their new staff and for meeting  with members whom we already know well. We will work to meet with members of Congress in key leadership positions. We plan to include a congressional staff briefing, a reception and individual office visits.  

November 18th and 19th, 2009 at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel and Spa. We have secured an excellent event package at the Arizona Biltmore Resort for November 2009. This is a beautiful property that offers great meeting space, a wonderful staff and plenty of opportunities to combine work and play in the Arizona sun. Stay tuned for further details.

Wednesday, January 7, 2009, in Washington, D.C. 9:00 am- 4:00 pm. Members will have a 2009 strategy meeting featuring Congressman Rob Bishop and other members of Congress. A preliminary schedule would include a briefing on the elections' outcomes and how they impact our issues in D.C. and in our Western legislatures, a morning strategy session, an afternoon strategy session and a Roundtable Board of Trustees meeting. There may be additions to this day (not necessarily sponsored by the Roundtable) such as a reception. We will be sure to invite you!

In July, the Environmental Protection Agency released an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking inviting public comment on the benefits/ramifications of regulating greenhouse gases (GHGs) under the Clean Air Act (CAA).  The Roundtable staff has circulated draft comments to members for review. The internal deadline for draft input is November 1, 2008.
