Privacy Policy
 
The Western Business Roundtable (“WBRT“) is a not-for-profit organization comprised of CEOs and senior executives of organizations doing business in the Western United States. Our member companies are involved in a broad range of industries, including agricultural products, accounting, chemicals, coal, construction and construction materials, conventional and renewable energy production, energy services, engineering services, environmental services, financial services, internet technologies, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, pipelines, telecommunications, and public and investor-owned utilities. The organization supports public policies that promote a common sense, balanced approach to economic development and environmental conservation.
 
This privacy policy governs the collection, use and treatment of personally identifiable information (“PII”) from users of WBRT’s Online Power Center (“Online Power Center”).  This privacy policy is for this Online Power Center only. This privacy policy may be changed without prior notice.  Any such changes will be posted on the Online Power Center as soon as reasonably possible, but in no event more than 30 days after the effective date of such changes.
 
1.      Information that you voluntarily provide. Basic PII is gathered and stored when you register (“opt-in”) as a user of the Online Power Center and/or participate in the informational and advocacy initiatives promoted by the Online Power Center. PII will include: 
 
  • Your name, address, email address, zip code, website, title, organization affiliation and issue interests. 
  • Information about your computer hardware and software, including: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring web site addresses.
 
It is your choice whether to register as a user of the Online Power Center. However, if you choose not to opt-in, you will not be able to participate in the informational and advocacy initiatives or use certain other features of the Online Power Center.
 
2.      How information that you provide is used.  The initiatives, tools and other elements of the Online Power Center have been developed with, or on behalf of, WBRT. If, at the time of registration, you opt-in to receive communications or to access initiatives, tools or other elements of the Online Power Center, WBRT will use the PII provided for the following purposes:
  
  • To bring to your attention news and information about public policy and non-partisan election issues that may be of interest to you;
  • To provide electronic tools for your use in taking actions on issues that may be of interest to you;
  • To aid the improvement and enhancement of the communications, education, and tools on this electronic informational and advocacy system; and
  • To provide WBRT general statistics regarding the Online Power Center’s use.
 
3.      Server side technologies. The Online Power Center uses server side technologies to collect additional non-identifiable information from users. These technologies include small pieces of code placed on a webpage to monitor the behavior of, and collect of non-identifiable data about, visitors viewing a webpage. The Online Power Center uses these technologies for a number of purposes including:
 
  • Accessing your information when you “sign in” so that WBRT may provide you with customized content;
  • Keeping track of any preferences that you may specify when you use the Online Power Center;
  • Tracking and reporting the number of people viewing and participating in the informational and advocacy initiatives organized by WBRT;
  • Conducting research to improve the products and services offered by WBRT.
 
You can set your browser to notify you before accepting any code (“cookies”) from the server or to disable cookies altogether. You should contact your software provider if you have questions about how to do this. (Please note: if you disable or reject cookies, you may not be able to access certain portions of the Online Power Center.)
 
4.      How will the information be used? The informational and advocacy initiatives, tools and other elements of the Online Power Center may have been developed on behalf of WBRT. If, at the time of registration, you “opt-in” to receive communications, WBRT may share or disclose your PII under the following circumstances:
 
  • For sharing with affiliated organizations. WBRT may, from time to time, share your PII with organizations it works with in advancing its public policy advocacy efforts.
  • For sale or rental to unaffiliated organizations. WBRT will not sell or rent your PII without providing you with an opportunity to “opt out” of such disclosure. You may exercise this option by contacting WBRT at webmaster@westernroundtable.com.
  • If WBRT or its web host is required to do so in order to comply with applicable law, a subpoena, warrant or other legal process;
  • In the event that WBRT is dissolved or its assets transferred or sold, it may transfer your PII to the acquiring party.  If, as a result of such transaction, your PII will be used in a materially different manner than contemplated herein, such change will be posted at the Online Power Center at least 14 days before it takes effect and you will be provided with an opportunity to “opt-out” of any such use by editing your user profile.    
 
5.      Information you can access. If you would like to access, review, correct or update your PII, contact: webmaster@westernroundtable.com
 
6.      Opt-out. You may choose to opt-out of the Online Power Center system at any time. You may exercise this option by contacting WBRT at: webmaster@westernroundtable.com.
 
7.      Children. WBRT does not knowingly direct information to, or solicit information from, people under 18 years of age. If you are a parent of a child under the age of 18 who has used the Online Power Center, you may contact WBRT and it will delete any PII about your child as soon a reasonably possible.
 
8.      Other websites. The Online Power Center may contain links to other outside websites operated by third parties. If you access other websites through a link on the Online Power Center, please take a few minutes and familiarize yourself with the terms of use and privacy policy of each site you visit. WBRT is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of linked websites. 
 
9.      Security. WBRT takes the security of your PII very seriously. The Online Power Center is operated with a secure data network protected by firewall and password protection systems. Only authorized individuals have access to your PII. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed secure. As a result, while WBRT strives to protect your PII by following generally accepted industry standards, it cannot guarantee the security of systems that are connected to the internet nor can it guarantee the security of information transmitted over the internet.
 
10. Changes to the Privacy Policy. This policy may be updated and changed. WBRT will notify you about significant changes in the way it treats personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your PII or by placing a prominent notice on the Online Power Center.
